Mojix Acquires IOT Platform Provider TierConnect

4 June 2015 - Mojix, a leading provider of wireless sensor network solutions, today announced the acquisition of TierConnect and its subsidiary CodeRoad, the creators of a state-of-the-art platform for the Internet of Things (IoT) recently launched as “ViZix.” This acquisition enables Mojix to offer comprehensive and fully configurable software solutions with advanced analytics, enabling end-to-end business intelligence and data visibility across multiple industries. This will further bridge the gap between its RFID hardware platform, the edge and IoT.

“Mojix has always been an innovator of wireless sensor networks,” said Mojix President and CEO Ramin Sadr “Our contribution towards the deployment of wide-area RFID networks has been nothing less than transformative. With the addition of a next-generation software platform, Mojix is best positioned to further strengthen its role as a leading IoT solutions provider. In addition, the TierConnect team gives Mojix deep expertise in Big Data scalability, highly-configurable application frameworks, and elegant user interfaces, all key ingredients in collecting, analyzing, and displaying mission-critical contextual data for our customers.”

Founded by Gus Rivera and Terrence Crown, TierConnect will bring over 100 world-class software engineers and a battle-tested IoT platform to Mojix. “After evaluating companies and technologies across the globe, TierConnect presented the most advanced and innovative software platform to address our customers’ needs across multiple vertical markets. We are delighted to have Terrence, Gus and the entire TierConnect team become a part of Mojix,” added Dr. Sadr. Crown will serve as Chief Software Architect for Mojix, while Rivera will lead CodeRoad software division as Managing Director, both reporting to Dr. Sadr.

“We were fortunate enough to have a great deal of interest from both public and private companies, and we are excited to join forces with a very impressive Mojix team. After several successful projects together, we saw an opportunity to help create a company that can transform business economics across multiple industrial segments,” said Rivera. “Unlike other providers in this space, Mojix is now uniquely positioned to leverage innovations and key patents in wide-area sensor networks with a powerful, highly-configurable software platform. Add proven expertise in sensor network deployment, and you have the capability to provide reliable solutions in days, not months.”

Working closely together in 2014, Mojix and TierConnect have already jointly deployed their IoT solutions to address supply chain management and worker safety in oil and gas, innovative inventory management solutions for retail, asset tracking in large scale IT environments, and healthcare for Fortune-50 companies.

SmartPatch Selects ThingWorx IoT Platform for its Connected, Wireless Structural Health Monitoring System

10 March 2015 – ThingWorx, a PTC® (Nasdaq: PTC) business and leading Internet of Things (IoT) platform provider, announced today that SmartPatch, an Italian startup company that develops structural health monitoring solutions, has selected ThingWorx to view and understand the data from its connected, wireless applications. These SmartPatch applications help monitor the structural integrity of buildings, bridges, tunnels and monuments.

Remote Structural Health MonitoringSmartPatch has developed a patented solution for Structural Health Monitoring that is wireless, low cost and easy to implement. The company is using the ThingWorx IoT platform via a browser connected to a cloud server for its advanced graphical user interface to enable real-time, detailed monitoring of data points such as strain, temperature, tilt and seismic activity. The system will offer a comprehensive view of the measured point and offer immediate data for interpretation and possible action.

“The ThingWorx based system can change the approach to viewing and understanding Structural Health Management data by builders, certification companies, state safety agencies, civil engineers and professionals in the building industry,” said Marco Bonvino, co-founder at SmartPatch. “In our opinion ThingWorx is the most complete IoT platform available on the market and we look forward to making this technology available to our customers.”

In addition to using the ThingWorx IoT platform, SmartPatch is also taking advantage of PTC Creo to offer new graphical visualization of the infrastructure, implementing a rotating 3D model.

“SmartPatch is a good example of how IoT technology can transform existing business processes such as structural health monitoring to enable a step change in efficiency and responsiveness, ” said Russ Fadel, president, ThingWorx. “The age of the Internet of Things is upon us and forward thinking companies, such as SmartPatch, will use the ThingWorx IoT platform to deliver business value to their customers.”
